Handmade Tile Fundraiser to benefit the John Burrison Pottery Studio

Make a 6” x 6” low relief handmade tile for a pottery studio tile mural

  • Instruction and all materials provided

  • Suggested donation: $35 per tile (we’ll accept more!)

  • Choose from several designs showing the NE Georgia folk pottery tradition

  • Tiles glazed, fired, and installed by pottery studio artists

We hope to have at least 128 tiles made for the planned 4’ x 8’ mural in the kiln room of the new pottery studio.  Students will receive instruction on making a low relief tile from their chosen design, mark it with their initials, and choose from a palette of glaze colors.  Learn some handy techniques in clay and contribute your work to a good cause.

Initial classes at the home studio of Jeanie Daves in Clarkesville (address and dates below).  Once the studio is fully equipped for operation, classes will be held at the John Burrison Pottery Studio

John Burrison Pottery Studio

Clay Classes Begin Spring 2025

After years of planning and overcoming numerous challenges, the long-awaited John Burrison Pottery Studio is now complete! Our team is currently working to outfit the space with brand-new equipment and supplies, preparing for an exciting launch in late Spring 2025.

Built by Blake Rainwater & Associates, the 1,700-square-foot studio stands on the former site of the Sautee Cannery & Fire Station, which was removed due to structural concerns. The new facility will feature:

  • Eight pottery wheels

  • Dedicated hand-building workspaces

  • A glazing room

  • Kilns for firing finished pieces

Once fully equipped, the studio will offer classes in wheel throwing, hand-building, and sculpting, welcoming pottery enthusiasts of all skill levels.

We can’t wait to open our doors and bring this new creative space to life—stay tuned for class schedules and registration details!
