Located on the beautiful campus of the Sautee Nacoochee Center, our museum offers a self-guided tour through the renowned "Pottery Maze"—a permanent exhibit featuring over 200 pieces of folk pottery from Northeast Georgia.

Your visit includes:

  • A rotating featured exhibit showcasing unique pottery traditions.

  • An interactive interpretive area demonstrating how pottery was made and used in daily life.

  • A 10-minute documentary featuring members of the Meaders family discussing their traditional pottery-making methods.

  • A museum gift shop with pottery-themed gifts and books.

  • Picnic tables, a playground, gardens, and a nature path open year-round.

Group Tours

We welcome group tours to the Folk Pottery Museum and Sautee Nacoochee Center campus. Free, self guided tour groups are always welcomed with advanced notice. We also offer several guided tour options for a small fee per person. Guided tour options can be customized to fit your groups needs.

ALL GROUPS OF 10 OR MORE REQUIRE RESERVATION.

Guided group tours minimum group size is 10.
Advance reservations required.
Two weeks or more notice preferred.

School Groups

Museum Tour

This includes a tour of the Folk Pottery Museum, Sautee Nacoochee History Museum, and a pottery demonstration. Visiting the Folk Pottery Museum will teach students about the societal, cultural, and historic context of the region's folk pottery. Students will also delve deeper into the history of Georgia in the Sautee Nacoochee History Museum, where they will learn about the lives and cultures of the Native Americans and early Georgia inhabitants.

Heritage Tour

This tour offers students the same benefits of the Museum Tour, with the addition of a walk along the Museum's Heritage Path. There students will visit a restored African American Heritage Cabin.

Additional Hands-on Arts Activity

After visiting the Folk Pottery Museum and learning about the history of the area, students will love the hands-on activity which can follow. Students of all ages will have the opportunity to take direct inspiration from the museum's exhibits and create their own works of art with clay or a different activity of your choice in our classroom space or outside.
